Crate digging #4: David Bowie – Blackstar

This is a classic. I’ve basically been listening to this album non stop for the past few days. My favourite tracks on this are Blackstar, Lazarus, I can’t give everything away, dollar days, girl loves me, Twas a pity she was a w*ore and…oh wait I just named the entire album. Why did I do that, you ask. Because every song on the entire album is a classic. Now, let’s learn about objective and subjective statements. A subjective statement is something that is an opinion. For instance, “The best genre is rock”. An objective statement is a fact. For instance, “The Best album of all time is Blackstar by David Bowie”.

Okay, I’m just joking, you’re entitled to your own opinion but I don’t throw the label of best album ever around lightly. In fact, I think I’ve only ever said that once, when I discovered Sunset Mission by Bohren und Der Club of Gore.

The point is that this is an amazing album, and an even more amazing swan song. And while David Bowie may not be around anymore, just think about this. The universe is 13 billion years old and you just happened to be alive at the same time as him. That’s pretty amazing, isn’t it.
