I’M MARY POPPINS Y’ALL!!! (Yes that is an actual quote from the movie, I’m not going insane)
This is what I wish all action movies were like. This movie is amazing, from its fantastic soundtrack to its references to a Microsoft rip off of the IPod, this movie is near flawless. And I’m not just saying this because I’m a sucker for a good soundtrack, because even my Dad, who had not much expectations for the movie since he hadn’t seen the first one, was seriously impressed. Just goes to show what can happen when you take risks, EVERY BLOCKBUSTER STUDIO OF THE 21st CENTURY. And you might say that since it’s a sequel, it doesn’t take risks. But as Chris Stuckman said in his YouTube review of the movie, most sequels try to make it twice as big, with twice as many explosions, action and characters. And while this movie certaintly is action – based, it still takes a much more emotional look at the character, giving them the development and depth most big – budget sequels lack. Because seriously, and this is like a big thing, this is the first time I’ve come close to crying in a movie and I’ve watched Up (I know, I’m a monster) and the scene in E.T where E.T leaves Elliot to go home. Don’t worry I won’t spoil it for you by telling you why. You’ll have to watch it yourself.
Now, time for me to say some things that will probably make you all never trust my opinion again:
- I think No.2 is better than the first
- I think this series will be up there with The Matrix and Star Wars looking back in a couple years
So you’re welcome. Blame me for blasphemy in the comments if you want.
But in all seriousness, this movie is really well done and one of the best comic book movies out there. And seriously, if you can only watch one movie soon, don’t watch Alien: Covenant and definitely DO NOT watch Baywatch, watch Guardians of The Galaxy 2. FULL STOP. And don’t listen to the Metacritic score of 67 / 100. Cause’ Metacritic is stupid.
